MUSIC
The 1950's was called the Rock N' Roll era, filled with leather jackets, electric guitars, and screaming fans at concerts. In 1955 the era had its first #1 hit when “Rock Around the Clock” by Bill Haley was released, and made it to the top of the pop charts ("The Rolling Stones: From Blues-Obsessed Teenagers to Rock Royalty").
Quickly picking up fads and opportunities, record labels
took what they could get and started
signing and releasing as many artists as they
could. These artists included Little Richard and
Chuck Berry in 1955, and Elvis Presley in 1956 ("The Rolling Stones: From Blues-Obsessed Teenagers to Rock Royalty")
Shortly after signing, in 1956 Elvis releases his
first single called “Heartbreak Hotel”, and by the
end of the year, he would be the first artist to
have 9 straight singles in a year ("The Rolling Stones: From
Blues-Obsessed Teenagers to Rock Royalty")

Culture in the 1950’s:
The 1950’s was the age of the greasers. Everyone had hair gel and a comb, and hair was slicked back every day. Thanks to some of the music icons, leather jackets and blazers were worn by the men, and long skirts and long dresses worn by the women. Kids went out to diners during the week, and to drive-in movies on the weekends. People danced and sang, and didn't need to worry about the world because at this time, everything was perfect.
