MUSIC
Now we move onto the 70’s. Rock and psychedelic music sales and albums are starting to decrease. The Beatles break up as a band, but stay in music as solo artists. Unfortunately, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison all die at the age of 27, and Elvis Presley dies at the age of 42. Bands that toured would move inside to play in sports stadiums and in theaters, and travel in jet planes instead of staying on the road. Car radios are starting to come out for the first time, along with 8-tracks, and cassette tapes. The diversity of music expands, and plays on radios everywherec ("1970's Music Decade Overview").
Although many genres were popular at this time, the most popular was dance music, also known as disco. The first dance clubs opened, and the 1970’s become known as the era with disco balls, glitter and sparkles, huge hair, tight pants, and brand new dances. This part of history is known as the disco period. With old music coming into the picture, disco and dance dominated the world, and the music charts ("1970's Music Decade Overview").

CULTURE
The 1970’s was a very simple time. The war was over, most if not everyone was back from combat, life was almost perfect for everyone. People spent extra times with parents and grandparents, rather then being out all the time. Women were starting to get good jobs, but men still brought home the most money. The T.V. became very popular, and with new released shows in color, everyone wanted to watch it. But if you were a kid, and you weren’t stuck outside, you would spend a majority of your time outside, playing small games like Kick the Can, Double Dutch, or play with Clackers. There was very little technology during this time, so people weren’t tied up all day ("70s Culture").
